Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association "CMSA" - The Fastest Growing Equine Sport In The Nation

Local Stars Shine

CMSA Nationals happen once a year in Tunica, MS, but the thrills left after the event last for a lifetime!

The Nationals kicks off the week with the Calvary Class followed by the WAHL Dare to Dream Shootout. This event is a highlight not only for the CMSA contestants that traveled from nine states with their equine partners, but also for their teammates who participate in the Dare To Dream Shootout from Heart’s Desire Therapeutic Riding Center (HDTRC), located in Senatobia, MS. The competition during the qualifying round on Wednesday was a very close race as there were no balloons left standing for the kids from Mississippi that came to compete astride their favorite mount “Nevada Joe,” from the Shooting Star Ranch in Darby, MT. Nevada Joe is the Official Horse Ambassador for NARHA and a Wild Horse Hall of Fame Inductee. After all the results were tallied the top cowgirl team was CMSA’s Joyce Nelson and six-year-old Syanne Simmons, and the top cowboy team was CMSA’s Zane Chunn and four-year-old Lane Alexander.

There was a tremendous amount of enthusiasm in the atmosphere as everyone was helping to make this event possible. Joyce Nelson commented that “it is nice to come shoot and compete at the Nationals, but to participate in the Wahl Dare to Dream Shootout was a highlight for her weekend.” Lisa Grimsley from MN commented that “I had a great partner and if she got half as much out of it as I did, then it was successful.” From the picture attached I think you can see that
