Event Was A Huge Success
Kenda Lensiegne and John Clark
High Money Winners

The CMSA recently produced a high stakes jackpot as part of the World Series of Team Roping event during the last weekend of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The event was held in the former home of the CMSA World Championship, the South Point Arena & Hotel. Over 900 teams were competing for $3,000,000 in Cash & Prizes with some of the CMSA's top mounted shooters running and shooting for over $55,000 in prize money.

Each contestant had the option of entering multiple horses, with each preliminary stage paying back 15% plus added money. Scores were totaled by horse and rider combination for qualification to the finals on Saturday, with each contestant coming back only one time in the finals.

Friday evening preliminary rounds paid a total of over $27,000. Saturday's event was fast and exciting with the top 15 teams in each roping coming back to run for HUGE payback! The Number 10 team was first, followed by the Charmayne James Invitational Barrel Race featuring the top 10 barrel racers from the mornings qualifier warming the crowd up. Next was the Number 11 teams, followed by the Top 7 Ladies and Top 7 Men from the CMSA's preliminary runs from the night before. Again, mounted shooters stole the show! The crowd loved the speed, color and excitement! Whitney Vickers captured the top spot in the Finals Performance for the Ladies and Jimmy Allen grabbed the Men's Honor winning $8,000 between them. Following the mounted shooters was the Number 13 teams and then Free Style Fighting Bulls. That's a tough way to make a living, but it was exciting.

A huge thank you to Denny & Connie Gentry, producers of the World Series of Team Roping for inviting the CMSA to be a part of their exciting event.

Top money earners at the World Series of Mounted Shooting for the Ladies was Kenda Lensiegne who took home $8,718.00 followed by John Clark who took home $7,630.80. All contestants had a great time and showed the sport well, it was a great promotional event for mounted shooting, showing the growth and professionalism that the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association has experienced.
